October 1996 Balcke Dürr Cooling Towers Ltd a part of Deutsche Babcock AG, Germany started its Water division in India with 6 persons.
January 1997 Company renamed as Balcke Dürr and Wabag Technologies Ltd
April 1997 Secured first important order, effluent treatment plant for Reliance Refinery project at Jamnagar, India. Till date, it is the largest effluent treatment plant in India.
April 1999 VA Technologie AG, Austria created VA Tech WABAG through the takeover of the Wabag from Deutsche Babcock AG. Third largest group established in water engineering business worldwide. Company renamed VA Tech Wabag Ltd
July 2000 PDMS Capabilities added, first time by any water treatment company in India
September 2000 ISO 9001 Certified
2000 - 2004 VA Tech WABAG established offices in Pune, Delhi and Kolkata. Employee strength reached 270 persons.
July 2003 Secured two (2) orders for sewage treatment plants, each with mega watt level power production - 1 MW from biogas, first of its kind in India.
January 2004 Secured major order, Asia's largest demineralization plant & condensate polishing unit at Panipat Refinery for Indian Oil Corporation Ltd
February 2005 Secured prestigious order, World's largest Membrane Bioreactor Technology based sewage treatment plant in Oman
September 2005 ICICI Venture acquired a controlling stake in VA Tech WABAG.
March 2006 ISO 9001: 2000 re-Certified for Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Operation & Maintenance. Employee strength grows to above 450 persons.
April 2007 Company reorganized into four Strategic Business Units to cater to different market segments, namely, Municipal, Industrial, International Business and Operations and Maintenance.
